The Clean Water Modelling Advisory Group (CwMAG) was conceived in 2011 with the core aim of creating an independent forum for water network modellers. A similar group for wastewater modelling had already been operating for over 20 years and brought considerable benefits to this specialist sector within the water industry. Drawing inspiration from WaPUG’s success, cwmag was formed by a mixture of water company personnel and water industry consultants.
The key aims of the organisation is to advance the science and practice of clean water modelling for the public benefit by:
- Providing a forum for clean water modelling professionals to share operational best practice
- Educating clean water modelling professionals, water delivery service agencies and the public by holding events, operating a website and disseminating useful learning
For the purpose of this clause ‘clean water modelling’ means the use of mathematical models, usually computer based, of a potable water supply network to analyse the system’s hydraulic behavior, to determine the effect of any changes and investigate remedial measures and improvements.
CwMAG is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1171934
